Buying a
Double Buggy 3 WheelsThe versatile buggy can be used as a double or single. It has 17 configurations that can accommodate children from infants to toddlers and even a third using the iCandy 'piggyback' board. It is also one of the tiniest double strollers that can be used as a single pushchair.
It's a compact and light stroller that folds up easily with just one hand. It is also suitable for a variety of environments and comes with a handy shopping bag.
Adaptability
There are a variety of factors to take into consideration when purchasing a double stroller. You'll want to ensure that your children are safe, comfortable and content while you discover new routes and places. It is important to consider the price as well as the size, weight and the durability. A trusted brand (within budget) will increase the chances of resales and make the buying process easier.
There are two types of double buggy with
three wheel pushchairs wheels, based on the number of children you'll be carrying: side-by-side and front-facing. The buggies that are side-by-side tend to be smaller, but they have a larger area than front-facing models. However there are a few super-smart models on the market that are able to keep their dimensions down such as the Mountain Buggy Duet. It is the slimmest side-byside buggy available and it even fits into doorways that are narrow!
Tandem buggies on the other hand, are often larger. They typically start as a single pushchair but can later be adjusted to accommodate a second seat or carrycot by using adapters. Some tandem buggies can accommodate twins, toddlers and a baby baby because of their innovative seat configurations. One example is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 which can be converted into a triple by the addition of the optional "Piggy Back" board.
The iCandy Orange tandem buggy is another stylish tandem buggy that features unique 'cinema-seat' design. It allows you to adjust the rear seat so that your children can be seated in different positions. This allows you to choose from a range of 30 seating options and is ideal for parents with young children at different stages of development.
The phil&teds sports is another excellent alternative. This multi-award-winning buggy is a world first that will protect your wallet in the near future. It starts out as an incredible single and can be adapted to take two (or three!) As your family expands, you can utilize the same footprint as a single buggy. The sling seat is the most important element to this. It is ideal for infants and provides greater stability, maneuverability, and kerb-pop.
Manoeuvrability
Generally speaking, double buggy
3 wheel baby buggy wheels are more easy to maneuver and handle than double pushchairs with four wheels. The front wheels are smaller and less wide and result in less weight. This means that they will be pushed more easily, and will also be easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs.
Mountain Buggy Duet is a great illustration. It is the thinnest tandem stroller available and has the same dimensions as a single stroller. This makes it perfect for parents who are worried about fitting through doorways or even on public transport. In addition, the fact it can also accommodate twins or two car seats/car carrycots allows it to be used right from birth.
UPPAbaby Vista 2 is another alternative. It's a fantastic, lightweight buggy that's ideal for urban life, but also able to ride on uneven or rough terrain. It is suitable for twins, a baby and a toddler due to its four-wheel suspension and big rear wheels. It's lightweight frame makes it easy to lift and carry. The only issue is that it's slightly harder to manage than other models when walking on uneven ground.
Comfort
If you're planning to take your buggy out for long jogs or walks, it's worth spending more money on a model that can take on rough terrain. Consider a three-wheel model with large back wheels to take the bumps, and a suspension system that absorbs shocks. The front wheels should be anchored to give you more control over difficult terrain and enable you to maneuver around corners.
Double buggys that are suitable for two kids will give you the flexibility to adjust the seats to ensure that both children be comfortable. The most comfortable double buggys come with adjustable footrests as well as reclining seats for older children. They'll also have plenty of storage space to store your shopping, car keys and phone.
Another thing to look for is a slick fold mechanism. Our Lab experts recommend models with straps under the seats that remove the buggy from the frame or a lever that opens a catch that folds the frame into half in a matter of seconds. Some models can even be folded with the seat removed which makes them smaller when not in use.
The Mountain Buggy Duet has won many awards and is a side-byside with great flexibility for twins or siblings. The clever frame can be expanded to take the second seat (or carrycot) and has a footprint the same as a single buggy that means it can fit through doors and on public transport. It's heavier than other models, but its smooth ride makes up for it.
iCandy's Orange Convertible is another popular side-by-side with 30 seating options to meet all needs. It's an excellent choice for twins since the seats can be facing parents, and can convert to a tandem pushchair with a carrycot/seat in the middle.
The Joie Evalite Duo is a lightweight
3 wheel compact stroller-wheel option that's suitable for daily use. It's not quite as large or expensive as other models, but its fixed front wheel and narrow turning radius make it more difficult to move up and down kerbs. It's simple to push and can be used as a running buggy by adding a separate child carrier.
Safety
The phil&teds sports can accommodate 2 children in many ways from infant to toddler using their car seat adapters or twin kit and can even cope with 3 kids if you utilize their piggyback board (which you can purchase separately for around PS120). It is particularly safe because of its dual front swivels, superior maneuverability, and the handy footbrake. Plus, its parent tray is bigger than most double buggies, and the canopy has windows that peek out to improve visibility.
This multi-award-winning side-by-side is the tiniest fully-featured all-terrain double buggy on the market. It has the same footprint as a single-buggy, which means it can be easily pushed through doors and taken on public transport. Its incredible suspension handles difficult terrain with ease and our Lab experts are enthused that it folds down to an uncomplicated resting position in a second or two. It also comes with a hand brake on the adjustable handlebar for additional safety. The seats are reversible and you can choose to have your children facing forward, or the parents facing one another - perfect for twins and siblings of different ages.
