WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrading by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher Best item upgrader level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the item being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item level Upgrade, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other items. They are purchased by players through item upgrade upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer Best item upgrader upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade items process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
