The album, which remains one of the most critically acclaimed in the history of the genre, introduced audiences to Nas’ distinct linguistic sensibilities, which saw the artist telling stories of inner-city experiences and growing up in Brooklyn with the tact, vocabulary, and storytelling capability of a gifted poet.
